Who, What, When, Where, Why and How
of Cults and the Occult...aka...

THE EMERGENCE AND INVESTIGATION OF THE OCCULT, CULTS AND NON-TRADITIONAL GROUPS

It's becoming a widespread problem in the jurisdictions of many police agencies throughout the United States.....individual involvement in the occult, cults and non-traditional groups.

There are FOUR major reasons that account for the rise in cult activity:

1. The Breakdown of the Family System;
2. A Lack of Religious Influence;
3. An Absence of Appropriate Education;
4. A Deteriorating level of Family Values;
5. DENIAL!

It is extremely important that you understand the definitions of the Ocult, Cults and Non-Traditional Groups.

A CULT is any religion or para-religion that is either highly secretive in nature or is centered on the authority and teachings of an individual. Beliefs and protocols of such groups have no similarity to established religions and represent a marked deviation from an established religion citing no warrant or basis other than what the cult leader says.

The OCCULT deals with the supernatural, para-normal beliefs in which certain psychic powers could be elicited and utilized.

There are as many as TEN MILLION members of religious NON-TRADITIONAL CULTS or groups in the United States alone. In fact, more than 9,000 non-traditional groups have been identified to date. The belief in Satanism is the most visible of these non-traditional groups. These members are abstract thinkers seeking existential answers. Most non-traditional groups are based upon a patriarchial system.

GROUP BREAKDOWNS

A great number of rituals associated with the occult take place in wooded, secluded areas. Abandoned buildings and graveyards (cemeteries) are also used. These individuals or group members operate under a claok of darkness and secrecy to avoid drawing attention to themselves or their criminal activity. But 98 Percent of the cases that law enforcement officers and investigators see are broken down into FOUR distinct groups:

1. EXPERIMENTERS or DABBLERS:
These are the youth who, in themselves, ot in an unorganized manner, use the trappings of Satanism to carry out some quasi-belief or act. These are NOT true satanists;

2. THE OCCULT OR CULT GROUP:
They have a charismatic leader who is (normally) 2 - 3 or 4 years older. These groups can be all juvenile or all adult, but very seldom would you see both juveniles and adults together. Usually, group members have dysfunctional problems themselves. This group is DANGEROUS because they believe they are following esoteric sciences. These members use unusual graffiti markings as well as slogans, possibly part of a rock lyric;

3. SELF-STYLED SATANISTS:
This third group uses the trappings of Satanism and the Occult and have a dysfunctional, psychological problem. These members will try to befriend police officers or they will use law enforcement officers for targets. Many officers continue to receive death threats from these individuals at the police headquarters, at their homes, affixed to patrol cruisers and even on the officers' personal automobiles;

4. The fourth group is the TRADITIONAL OCCULTIST. All that these members know is Satanism. They are secretive and little is known about this group.

Of the criminal activity being seen by police officers, the traditional occultists are least likely to do it. It is primarily the Occult or Cult groups who are responsible for murders and vandalism.

In addition to being able to determine a person's group affiliation, it is important to also evaluate the various levels of violence better known as THE VIOLENCE CODE.

The levels of THE VIOLENCE CODE are as follows:

1. The PACIFIST;
2. An Individual who can be AGITATED;
3. An Individual who is CRIME CAPABLE;
4. An Individual who is VIOLENCE CRIME CAPABLE; and
5. A FANATIC.
